Fans of water activities know: a fall into the sea can quickly happen and prolonged immersion in water can prove fatal.

During its interventions, the SNSM notes that practitioners are rarely equipped with devices that would allow them to communicate their situation and locate them so that they can be rescued as quickly as possible.

This is why the SNSM in association with ido-data and Philippe Starck imagined DIAL, an Individual Alert and Location Device connected to emergency services, adapted to the practice of water sports and activities (Jet-ski, pleasure coastal, water sports, kitesurfing, windsurfing, paddle, swimming, etc.) in order to:

• allow the practitioner to share their position with 3 trusted people when practicing their activity,
• easily transmit a geolocated alert to loved ones and emergency services in the event of difficulty,
• reduce emergency response times : with DIAL, sea rescue time has been divided by 3 (a DIAL wearer is rescued in less than 30 minutes on average).

  Thanks to the multi-operator SIM card included in the beacon (usable in 32 countries in Europe and the overseas departments), DIAL operates autonomously (no need for a nearby telephone to transmit its data). The SIM card works with an annual subscription of €29 including tax for unlimited use (the first year is included when purchasing the device)

  DIAL is directly connected to the “DIAL by SNSM” mobile application which allows your loved ones to be reassured during your sea trips. You can register up to three contact people to follow your activities. The application will allow them to locate you and if an alert is triggered, to share essential information with emergency services.

  When receiving an alert, referrers can:

• join the wearer: the application allows them to simultaneously view their position and that of the beacon, as well as the distance that separates them,
• and/or mobilize help if necessary: emergency numbers available from the application - 196 and 112.

Warning: to operate the beacon must be in an area covered by the mobile internet network or GSM networks (DIAL transmits its encrypted data by mobile internet (GPRS) but if this network is not available DIAL then transmits its data by SMS via GSM networks). Like any civilian means of communication, DIAL cannot send or receive data underwater and is therefore not suitable for scuba diving or freediving beyond 20 meters depth.

  Alert transmitted if DIAL is in an area covered by GSM or GPRS mobile networks + bracelet OUT OF WATER during the alert and for as long as possible. Physical movement of SNSM teams to the incident site . Thanks to access to the live location of the DIAL wearer, CROSS can guide teams in the field more easily and quickly.

  Technical characteristics

Sending geolocated alerts : an alert with the position of the beacon is transmitted to the referents' smartphones when:

> the wearer presses the bracelet for 3 seconds

> the wearer remains motionless on the ground (total absence of movement) for 3 minutes,

> the beacon sends a position located outside the perimeter predefined by the user. .

Vibrations to indicate beacon status. A vibrating motor inserted in the beacon allows you to know if the beacon is on, off or in alert mode

Battery life of up to 4 days with GPS data reporting every 20 minutes

2 days max with GPS data reporting every 5 minutes

6 hours max (in alert mode) with GPS data reporting at least every 15 seconds

Waterproof up to 20m for 4 hours. However, DIAL is not suitable for scuba diving or other underwater activities. Underwater, no communication with land is possible.
